Marin & Colusa is all about quilt patterns that are a lot easier to make than they look. It’s about the details here and there, something that might look difficult to sew but is actually quite easy to achieve. It’s about patterns that hold interest and take as little time as possible to finish. That’s the kind of pattern that I design.
Easy assembly is a must! I like my points to be pointy. But if that means extra work, then I have no problem “cutting off” the point. Not literally of course. It’s an easy technique to design the pattern to have “squared off” points or snowball corners that let the points “hang” inside the block, not at the edge. There are times when I want the traditional look. Points that point and points that match. Then I take the time to make the blocks the “normal” way. Read More

I love a little curved piecing, but hate the sewing. Spanish Tiles and Scattered Leaves and Turkish Delight use fusible interfacing to make the curved pieces. The shapes are appliqued onto a background, but not with a hand needle and thread. It’s all done with the machine and invisible thread.
I have been sewing for over 40 years. I have written patterns for Quiltsmart including Primrose, Pinwheel Spin and Tesselation. I have designed patterns for Quilt in a Day, including Pine Wreath, which can be found in Quilt in a Day's Christmas at Bear Paw's Ranch and Lattice Work. I now write patterns for my own company Marin & Colusa. I hope you enjoy the quilts you make from my patterns.
